Charlotte, North Carolina Charlotte in BloomThe Symposium held in Charlotte was a success. Twenty nationally-known teachers offered classes to 340 full-time sleep-in students, 38 full-time day students, and 49 part-time day students. More than 900 attendees visited the 301-piece quilt show and the merchants mall comprised of 35 vendors of quilt-related items.One of the surprise hits of the weekend was the Sunday Morning with the Teachers, which allowed participants to meander among the teachers, learning, shopping, and getting autographs. In addition, the Thursday evening auction raised nearly $5,000 for the Charlotte Battered Women's Shelter and the Breast Cancer Network. At the closing luncheon ceremony, scholarships for Symposium 2001 were presented to Marjory Boyer Crane, Ellen Mabry, and Doris Phillips. |
